As a Client Manager in this international reinsurance company you will join an excellent team in order to support driving the continued profitable growth in Japan for years to come.  As a primary contact point, you will develop, strengthen and steer relationships with existing clients and brokers; identify and maintain solid relationships with key decision-makers and establish networks at the relevant levels.

Japan is a very important market for the company and their branch has the full mandate by the company’s board to run the business in Japan.  It is staffed and led by highly skilled world-class professionals in diverse disciplines

Your responsibilities include:

  • Working with respective client teams (underwriting, claims, accounting, etc.) as well as internal service providers, develop a clear understanding of the clients' risk management and insurance needs and then implement a strategy to provide solutions while considering the company’s complete product offering and expertise
  • Drive all aspects of client negotiations: to deliver the best possible solutions / offerings to the clients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop and execute client strategies towards the achievement of planned growth and profit targets
  • Lead the identification and development of new and existing business opportunities within the strategic focus of the organization



  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience working in Japanese Non-Life insurance with exposure to corporate clients (or relevant experience in financial services with a track record of relationship and sales management)
  • Broad industry network with key stakeholders (corporate risk managers, brokers, insurance professionals)

Skills & Education

  • College/University degree (preference given to Actuarial Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Business or Economics)
  • Good understanding of primary insurance underwriting and/or risk management; Financial knowledge (ability to analyze balance sheets a plus)
  • Excellent communication skills (native/fluent Japanese and strong business English language)


  • Ability to actively listen, professionally communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level
  • Functional leadership qualities, strong teamwork and networking skills, willingness to cooperate and share knowledge within crosscultural and virtual teams
